If I were to write a list of all the tasks I have to get through in a week, I’d need a roll of wallpaper. I hold my hands up, I have a hectic life. But then again, don’t most of us suffer from this affliction? The key is to keep organised and be a master at prioritising!
I was shown a technique many years ago that I still use in exactly the same format (I’m always looking for ways to make techniques more effective or efficient, but I haven’t felt the need with this one – it just works.
I use this technique everyday, for everything. It helps me to stay focused on the most important and urgent tasks for the day.
I’ve tried writing it on sheets of paper, sticking post-it notes on a board, and even digital versions – but I always come back to the white board. I have a great sense of satisfaction when I erase a task from the board (and do a little happy dance when the board is totally clear).
As Lee lacocca said “If you want to make good use of your time, you’ve got to know what’s most important and then give it all you’ve got.”
Give it a try and see how much more you can achieve just by focusing on what’s really important.
Need some help to introduce this technique into your daily life?
